What is involved in changing a non-Nav car to the RNSE Nav? Changes for '09?
I'm still helping a friend find a white A3 3.2, and she prefers the tan interior with Nav and open sky, but so far only black interiors with Nav have turned up.
Anyone know what is involved in retrofitting an '08 non-Nav car with the Nav unit?
I'm wondering how much work is involved with the GPS antenna (remove headliner?).
Also, and this is an aside, how difficult are the low profile roof rails to install (assume you remove the headliner for this, but if so that might be done at the same time as GPS/XM radio antenna?). Do the roof rails work with the 'open sky' system?
Lastly, what are the upgrades to '09 cars? Just wondering what reasons there might be to wait, aside from the front/rear bumper revsions. This is what I found on Edmunds (probably a repost). It looks like they're covering a headlight revision too, to mock the neuvo 'R8' swept-LED theme:

Easier in the '08 models b/c they all have the double din symphony radio to start with.
So it seems to be a pretty straightforward plug n play exercise from what I've since found.
Just buy the head unit, the adapter harness and the GPS antenna.
The GPS antenna can be mounted on the dash in front of the instrument cluster if you don't want to bother with the roof mounting retrofit.
Re-code the car so it knows it has GPS, and voila! Takes about an hour or even less per people who have done it.

http://www.navparts.com/</a
