Default 17" Wheels on a 2018 A3 (factory 18")

Hello all,

I have a friend who has 17" wheels with tires (225/45 R17) from an A4 which he is selling. Will they fit on my 2018 A3 Premium plus?, it came with the 18" wheels originally.

Thanks,

Vinny

17" wheels "should" fit but to know for sure you also need a few other bits of information such as wheel offset for OEM and new wheels. See my post

Digging into this, it looks like the rims I am looking to get have an offset of 47mm. My factory rims which came with the Audi have an offset of 46mm. Is it OK to deviate a little bit from the stock ones?

If the wheel widths are the same and the offset is only 1mm different, I would say not a problem. Having said that, you should make the measurements I refer to in my prior post to be sure.

I put the new rims on the car and everything looks OK, calipers clear the rims and nothing is touching. Only thing that I noticed while putting them on was the OEM rims had a lip in the center which centered the tire. The new ones do not, which requires a little more effort to hold up the tire and screw in the lugs.

This shouldn't cause a problem right?

Not sure - you may need wheel centering rings to ensure the wheels are properly centered. If not, you may experience some vibration. Check out this Tire Rack link for more info: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret....jsp?techid=91
