Default 18" winter wheels fitment for RS3

Hi guys,

My dealer just informed me that my 18 inch winter wheels won't fit on my RS3.

He tells me he has tried several 18 inch wheels on the RS3 and none did fit.

19 inch is the only option for winter wheels on the RS3 according to him. Of course Audi offers a set of winter wheels and these have been specifically released for the RS3, but they are 19 inch.

Have somebody tried and succeeded in installing a 18 inch wheel that clears the big front calliper?

Thanks!

I asked Neuspeed directly - 18x8.5 ET45 RSe10 and RSe12 fit the RS3, the RSe11 in that size does not.

(I have a set of the RSe10 18x8.5 on the way)

I've got a local tire guy bringing in 18" rim his supplier says will fit the RS3. At $180 CDA each I'm willing to give it a shot for winter tires. stay tuned

Hope you each post photos and info on how much clearance from the calipers there is after you mount them.

So on a 18x8.5 rim, what tire size would give the closest rolling diameter as the stock 255x30x19 and 235x35x19's? Am I looking at a 245x35x18 or a 235x40x18?

Will do! I've already posted photos of the winter wheels I used on my 2010 S5 when I tried them on the RS3 - BBS CH 18x8.5 ET35. They fit the brakes, with about 2mm clearance radially, but the offset was too low, they were too flush for winter use, so I am going with the Neuspeed ET45.

235/40-18 (still very slightly smaller diameter than 235/35-19)

Do you think the 2mm clearance of 18's would be a problem to those stick-on wheel balancing weights?

Clearance would be a problem if the stick-on weights were in the middle of the barrel; but would be no problem if the weights were on either edge of the barrel as they wouldn't be near the caliper. You'd want to give some instructions to your wheel/tire balancer operator to avoid a problem.
