2017 A3 - Auto Start/Stop - COMPLETE DISABLE?
Hello,
Anyone in the Chicago area have the necessary cables/tools to completely disable this feature so when turning on the car, don't have to press the button every single time? Willing to provide a 6 pack of your favorite beer.
Thanks!

If you put the gearshift into paddleshift mode, the autostop/autostart is disabled. Plus, it's more fun than leaving the shift in "D" and letting the computers shift for you.

Huh really? I always drive in manual shift mode and I can assure you in my car that it does not disable the autostop/autostart function. I too have to push the disable button every time I start the car.

Odd that. My 2017 S3 seems to disable the stop/start function when I move into manual mode. What can I say? I may have to do some more testing to see if my experience was some kind of aberration.

The Carista app (and likely OBDeleven) has a Customization that can permanently disable Auto-Engine Start/Stop.
See here:

However, the car always defaults back to the "D" shift mode after shutoff - I believe this is for EPA mileage rules.

^^This. I don't believe I have seen it in obd11 however, but the carista app worked great.

It's important to note that sometimes the car itself will temporarily disable Auto-Engine Start/Stop if certain operational conditions are not met eg. engine temp, engine run time, energy consumption, battery level, etc.
This is indicated by the A with the slash through it on the dash.

My bad, I have confirmed the autostop/autostart is disabled when in manual mode. I guess I had a habit of always pushing the button to disable it without realizing it was being disabled when I put it in manual mode. Now I'm happy I don't have to push the button anymore!
Additional Note:
I realized that when you don't manually disable the autostop/autostart by pushing the button, even if you do drive the car in manual shift mode, when parking the vehicle it will automatically shut off the engine as soon as putting the car in Park. I think this is the reason why I had thought I needed to always manually push the button.
So having said that, I will still push the button because I don't like the engine automatically shutting off when I place the car in Park. There are times that I want the engine to continue running while I'm parked.
