Audi Connect -- invalid VIN?

Audi Connect -- invalid VIN?
I noticed that I don't have an "active subscription" for traffic data, etc. I tried adding my VIN on the Audi Connect website, but it just says I have an invalid VIN.
Anybody else have this issue?

Had to call in to the Audi Connect support line (877) 505-2834 and tell them my VIN... they did something on their end and then I was able to activate the trial subscription

I had the same problem on the 2018 A3 I just purchased and when I called support they told me my car didn't have an AudiConnect system. Was the person I spoke with incorrect?
