Default Green menu?

Hi all,

I'm looking to find out if we can enable the green menu (using VAG COM or script if possible). Had a question floating in the electronics forum for a few days with no takers so I thought I'd roll the dice here. The aim is to be able to follow instructions I've seen for most other Audi systems to install fair mode and enable data tethering from a smart phone.

Anyone tried? Is this doomed for the 8V models?

Thanks.

Are you talking about the Economy menu on the Driver Info System?

This is the so-called "hidden menu" (I think that is its other name)

I don't believe this is from an 8V, but the 8V does apparently have one

Looks like it can be done with a VAG CAN PRO unit, not the Ross unit as of this time. Found another user on a different forum that has enabled the menu for 8V models. Will post back if I learn whether the subsequent steps to enable tethering are likely to work.

There's a vulcan-death-grip for older models on the MMI controls, not sure if the A3 has them.

Caveat: There are things in the hidden menu that if changed, can damage the car's electronics if you don't know what you are doing. For example, do not activate "Boot loader" under any circumstances or you will kill your MMI.

This was not the case in previous MMI gens in other Audi models, not to say that's not true, just to say that historically is hadn't been.

I have posted in different sections of the forum regarding enabling the green menu. I'm having hard time enabling it for a new 2016 A6. I have reason to believe that Audi made changes to it or maybe there's no way around it for newer models yet. https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud.../#post24740444
