I wanted to change the oil after the 1000 mile break-in but the audi service manager convinced me that the factory adds 'conditioner' and that I should wait for 10K. After that I want to change every 5K miles. Anyone changing oil after 1000 miles. I am not doing anything special like mods or racing (yet).

I changed my S3 at 1500 miles. I think a conditioner added is a bit of you know what. Service Managers tend to be managers with no mechanical experience.

1k miles is overkill. Audi doesn't use a break-in oil. I've never changed the oil as early as 1k miles, but I do a change every 5k miles on my RS5. The first oil change on Audis used to be at 5k miles and then every 10k miles. This was changed with the current generation of cars and the first change is now at 10k miles. I would still do a change every 5k miles.

Changed mine at 6xx and 1,6xx... and will again around 5,xxx. Your mileage may vary.
