Default RS3 spoiler lip -vs- S3 spoiler lip comparision

Hey all- just got my new rs3 spoiler from europrice.us. I also ordered the Black optics window trim.

I've always been happy with how nicely my items are packed when I order from europrice. The parts came straight from Germany as well...
The rs3 spoiler is kind of similar to the s3 spoiler but just beefier and less curvy... I like how the edges of the rs3 spoiler come up a bit higher. see pics below.

Overall I think the rs3 spoiler will be a nice touch for my s3. I plan on having it painted gloss black (among other parts: rear valance trim & side mirror caps)
Before I went this route I had ordered the Carbon Fiber variant that most people run. I found it to be a little bit overkill. Plus it seemed odd to have just a couple pieces of random carbon fiber on the car.

How is the stock one attached, just adhesive or mechanical too?

neither are mechanical. they both use the 3m adhesive double sided tape.

the rs3 spoiler came with small tabs that need to be removed before installing. after looking at my stock s3 spoiler it looks like tabs were cut off that and sanded down as well..

Maybe it's just me but I like the small lip spoiler on the S3. Subtle.

To be honest, that's probably why you like the S3! - It is more subtle than the RS model :-)

THANK YOU.

My S3 one is badly damaged from a garage door and I want to replace with a CF one, but wondering about install.

Is the stock one painted then attached, after the trunk-lid is painted?

lmao no... i've been running without the spoiler lip for weeks now. its completely painted and clear coated etc under there. kinda like it shaved. wait till u see the gloss black vs white on this spoiler..

the s3 spoiler is nice but this one kicks it up a notch. the ecs version is china made and it shows. its made with paper mache wraped in carbon fiber by 6 year olds. just get the oem variant- much higher quality- ecs basically resells the one you can get on aliexpress for 120$

oh btw the parts are getting painted Thursday so hopefully i can get some pics by this weekend.
i should also mention that I'm dropping the car (this morning) with parts in trunk to have my window trim converted to black optics... they quoted me 120$ for removal/install... lmao (kinda scared)
