Based on his query?

There were more than a few of us that contacted Hartmann about 18" wheel fitments for winter use! I wrote them in late August... and also received the follow up email yesterday. Kudos to them for their efforts!

While I really like the Hartmann wheels (I've had a set for winter use on our S7 for 4 years), I wanted 18s if at all possible, and I couldn't wait until mid-October or later to find out about fitment, so I went with the Neuspeed RSe10 18" wheels for my winter setup.

All of the Hartmann wheels appear to be cast which will meant that they will need more material to achieve the same strength and a forged /or semi-forged(flow formed) wheel. This will result in thicker barrels and spokes which is likely why the 18" won't fit.

Generally cast wheels are more inexpensive because they're cheaper to make and are also HEAVIER which can impact handling and acceleration vs. a forged option.

Doesn't look like Hartmann lists weights would be nice if someone weighed them and posted for reference.

At this point, they say that they use the same type of casting process as OEM, but they are starting to work on some flow-formed wheels - still in prototype phase so far as I saw.

My primary task was to get winter wheels, and I was not terribly concerned about the weight for that application, and also didn't want to spend a ton either.

This is my best shot straight down edge of the wheel arches.

Has anyone done a reasonably priced (1500-2500 USD) and decent looking winter wheel and tire package direct from TireRack for the RS3 with standard brakes? I know they have the Pirelli Sottozero 3 235/35-19 tires, but it seems like everyone is doing the Neuspeed or Hartmann wheels, which has to be a separate order. I'd rather just have the whole setup from tirerack with mounting and balancing delivered directly to a shop for install. Trying to avoid getting the Audi Wheel and TIre package since their rims are ehhh and they're upcharging for everything.

Thanks for the input!

Test fit OEM S4 peelers. 19x8.5 +43 Bore size was to big but they fit just barely cleared the brakes.

That protrusion is very close on a lot of wheels. On the Hartmann 256's it's still only a few millimeters.

When you have a minute, could you measure the clearance with the 256? I am hoping it is 3-4mm. Thanks.

Ouch. Did you happen to notice how close it was on the OEM rims?
