On the S3 I wasn't able to 'tune' the auto-dimming function, I'd asked the service rep to increase the sensitivity as it was too slow and not dark enough for my preference but was denied.

I traded the S3 in, no pics available. The outer-rim of the dash air vents still rotated for on->off gradients, but the centre of the vent could be pulled out a 1/2" or so.

Thanks for the pre-sense setting, i'll take a look.

Glad to hear that these settings can be adjusted; thanks for the heads up Matt.

In the S3 it's the same. You turn the outer ring to adjust airflow. Never seen a lever or ability to pull out the center ****. On my S3 there's a **** that allows you to rotate the diffuser, that's it. Can't tell any difference by rotating it as far as the directional airflow. Velocity is definitely controlled by the outer ring.

I'm not looking to "tune" them. I just want to know how to turn on/off AUTO-dimming (as opposed to turning on/off dimming using the dial in the door).

no idea - the dealer mentioned side-viewer mirror heater and auto-'park' of the mirrors with the door dial, but maybe she was saying auto-dim.

the direct/difuse lever I mentioned was the centre silver ring on my S3's vents, could pull/push. not so on the RS3. Pic taken from Google's A3.
