Default Winter tire package for the S3

Hi All,

Has anyone purchased or spec'd out a winter tire package for your S3? My dealership is quoting C$1900, 225/40/18 with Pirelli Sotto Zero tires with after market alloy wheels and an Audi branded centre hub cap. I wonder if this is the best option, i.e. to go with the dealer and/or this tire/wheel combination.

BTW, I had not ordered the 19" wheel option for the S3, so the factory tires are 225/40/18.

Thanks

I spent $1450 to piece together my winter wheel / tires setup including mounting and balancing. Michelin X-Ice xi3 tires from TireRack and Alzor 628 wheels from ECSTUNING installed at a local TireRack recommended vendor. It also including Audi parts from eBay to do the center cap and lug covers.

TireRack will mount and balance your wheel / tire package at no charge if you get everything from them. Since I went separately I spent $120 on mounting and balancing. But that is apples and oranges since my wheels were less expensive than comparable set at TireRack.

In any case, I think the dealership price is reasonable for a dealership. They will stand behind the install. If you want to save, go over to TireRack. Just use the 2015 A3 as the basis of the wheel search and go 18" (17" is a no go on the S3).

Check out my link below for my winter wheel / tire selection. Subsequent to the pictures I put the lug bolt covers on.

I agree that c$1900 is pretty reasonable from the dealer. I ended up going with a winter package from Tirerack; ASA GT10 18"x8" wheels in black with 45mm offset and 225/40 18" Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's. So far I'm liking the way they handle in the cold (dry or wet) weather. What little snow I've driven in so far has been good, however we've had very little snow so far in southern Michigan that I can't say how well they'll be in 2-4 inches. Actually looking forward to our first snowstorm, should be fun!

I like the Alzors as well and you can't beat the price. Let's us know what you decide on.

If you are not in a rush to get winter wheels, there is mention that 17's may fit on the S3. The member is going to be fitting them on very shortly so that will confirm if 17's will work, save some money on wheels and tires for other mods.
