So the original battery in my a5 went bad so I put a battery that was from a Volvo s40 in it and it works alright but my car runs ****ty from time to time runs ruff and if you give it gas it bogs out and throws the check engine light on flashing and has very little throttle response after that but if you pull over and restart it the car runs fine and the engine lights gone could this be from using a battery that isn’t big enough for the car ?

You need to use the proper battery in these cars.

In any modern car really. All the computers are VERY picky about voltage and if it's undersized chances are those voltages are dropping too much under load.

Our Audi needs a bigger battery due to ***. I'd change out your battery ASAP to not risk damaging any components.
