Swapping a damaged Virtual Cockpit
Hi Everyone.
My son being the helpful sort decided to help load some planks of wood Ito my 2018 S5 Sportback but in doing so didn't notice he had damaged the Virtual Cockpit badly. Like right through to the circuitry underneath so sadly the display isn't the only part that was damaged.
So I am looking to replace the VC of which there are heaps online that are in A1 condition and a whole lot less than the dealership ones. I need to know if they are plug and play, my suspicion is not. If not and it needs coding, can it be coded using the OBDEleven? At least to get the right info displayed.
I'm confident at changing the VC out and knowledgeable of the OBD setup, but any help is always truly appreciated. I can access the VIN if needed.
In addition, my car just had its first service so would like to know how easy it is to then have the mileage corrected to what it is currently?
Any advice you have would be very much appreciated. Suffice to say, my poor lad is feeling terrible and has even offered to have is pocket money deducted....but I couldn't do that...I feel bad that he feels bad and accidents happen.
Thanks for reading and I hope to hear back with some helpful info.
Jason

Component protection will need to be deactivated and this needs to be done using dealer level tools such as ODIS unless one of the thirdparty coders have come up with a hack for it.
