well the 335is isnt a new car, I would never consider it, there are millions of 3 series on the road since they came out in 2007, and they all look the same. AND why pay $50k+ for a basic 3 series, when you can get the M3 for a few dollars more, or a low mileage used one for less.
The E550 is without a doubt the most comfortable car out of the 3. I have a E350 along with a S5 and the seats in the S5 are terrible compared to the MB.
Looks wise, the Audi wins, no questions asked.
If you are buying the car, get the S5, Mercedes are only worth leasing, anyone who buys one will regret it when they go to sell it or trade it.
In the end, if your looking for people to notice you more, and get respect for your ride, then get the Audi. Mercedes just dont have the appeal anymore since for every Audi you will see your going to see 20 mercedes.

If you like the S5 over the C63, it is most likely that you will like the S5 over the 335is and the E550.

If you want more performance, the 335IS is gonna destroy both the S5 and definately the E550. Although th 335i has been out there for a while, the S5 began production when the 335I came out. On top of that, if you are annoyed about the undicisive plan about audi bringing the V6T to the S5 and also worried about the Tip not being up to par, then get the 335is, it has dual clutch which shifts just like the DSG. Also, the 335is has better fuel economy then the S5 and better gas milage. And the new 335is has a new look to it so ppl can differentiate from the 335is and the 335i. On top of that 0-60 in 5sec while the S5 does it in 5.1 or 5.3 and the E550 does it in 5.6. Atm, I starting to get pretty turned off about the S5 due to the fact that audi cannot bring the V6T to the 2011 production. I think I might get the 335is because it has better performance, the Interior for both the S5 and 335is is very similar and also, it will cost rougly several grand less than the S5. Overall from what Im seeing, the 335is is the way to go.

If you want performance, Corvette is the best bang for the buck, haha. But really, a 3 series is as common as mosquitos on a summer night. So is E class now. I can't remember the last time I saw an S5. I actually like the fact that the S5 has a V8....why go for a tiny supercharged V6 when you can have a real V8? And if we really cared about fuel economy we would be driving a Prius.

335 + chip, get's you close to the S5 in HP, plus exhaust, 335 is looking at 80+ HP gain. Remember the 335, is 300 HP, the S5 is 360,and only slightly heavier. The S5 does 0-60 in 4.9 , it does 0-62 in 5.1 officially, many mags clearly have it faster, but 0-60 S5 is 4.9 not 5.1.

The 335 certainly won't come close to destroying the S5, you have that backwards. The S5 is certainly faster, and 335 might handle slightly better, as it's it's slightly lighter, we are talking 335 though not the the 335xi(4 wheel drive) which the S5 will simply dismantle.

the 335i beats the S5 on the track, so imagine what the 335is will do? I think you get the picture.
sigh, at first I was very interested in buying the S5, everything was perfect until my friend told me "HAH MY S4 HAS DSG, IT'S GONNA RAPE YOUR S5 IF YOU DO GET ONE CUZ IT HAS A DYNO TIP" I then when to the dealer and asked him about the up coming s5 and they told me that audi is going to bring in the new V6T with DSG for the 2011 model but has 20 less hp than before. I was starting to get tied up about getting a S5 because i wanted the dsg yet i wanted the v8. I simply dont like driving a manual because I live in Toronto. So my question was V8? OR the V6T with DSG? I decided that I would go for the new engine; however, after asking people on this forum when Audi is going to put the new engine in, everyone said it's not going to happen until a yr later...sigh...what do I do now? ppl say it not gonna happen until 2012 yet my dealer says it will for the 2011. All this has been a turn off to purchasing a S5.
If Audi is keeping the V8 for another year, I think I will get myself a 335is since it has better performance and also saves me about 10 grand.

the new 335is has 20 more hp than the 335i and has about 15 more torque than the S5, the S5 is not slightly heavier but a lot heavier than the 335is. Also, you dont need to chip anything to the 335i, the stock already beats the S5 on the track.

To be honest, I highly recomment you get the 335 , 1 less S5 I'll see on the road, and I love it.

you will be wishing you got the audi 1 mile after you drive in the first snow storm in the 335is
and lets be honest, in real world, stop light to stop light racing, the all wheel drive S5 can be launched hard(4500 RPM) without any issues of going out of control, while the bmw driver needs to worry about not going sideways on hard launches.

Sigh, think about it, why are there so many 335 out there? sure it's like a potato chip, and sure it's like a pair of nike runners and everyone has them. The reason why everyone has them is because it's GOOD and just simply the best. People always argue that theres too many of this, theres too many of that but think about it again, it's everywhere cuz everybody loves them, you cant be unique with sth unless it's a piece of ****. My point is, 335i is so popular is because it's simply the best. However, eventhough the car is great, I still very much like the S5 because of it's looks, but it's just that Audi is very undecisive about the S5's future and I would purchase the new RS5 in a heartbeat but I cant because it's not out in Canada.
