Advice on ordering an A5

Advice on ordering an A5
I'm a first time Audi buyer (switching from bmw) and will likely order an A5 soon (although I may also look at the 09 A4 when it's out).
Three questions:
1) Roughly how long a wait for an A5?
2) What do I need the dealer to give me to ensure the order is properly placed? Comm number? Allotment? Build date?
3) Anyone used the Costco auto purchasing program, or similar, rather than going directly to a dealer?
Many thanks!

You order, you get a commission number that ties to all your specs so you can confirm, then wait..
For ordering Costco may work as they will send you to a dealer anyway but i doubt the deal will be much better than starting a relationship with a dealer near you. But you are also still dealing with high demand so need to find a dealer with allocations available.

Re: If you want to order, order now the wait is longgggggggggggg....
Two things...
The Costco program can save you nothing on the A5, its not included in their program because the car is too new and in demand. I tried this a 2 months ago...
If you order the A5 with the S-Line package is a LONG wait. The S-Line is back ordered due to the un-availability of the 19" wheels.
I Just heard back from my dealer in Boulder...
"I have now spoken with the Distribution Hot line in Detroit.
They seriously doubt that the factory would come out with an option and then take it away.
Turns out there are quite a few orders for the "S-Line" and it is just wheels that are holding up the orders. We have wheel constraints on 4 different models at this time.
So the upshot is that it looks good for your car to be built I just don't have a time yet."
So order now if you want this package in the in 6 months or so.
