B8 superior to B9: My beef with Audi
Fellow 2013-2017 A5 owners and leasers, I bought my A5 Premium Coupe new in early 2013 and absolutely loved it for the first 4 years. Then in year 5 it started burning oil and it needed new tires and brakes, which was to be expected. In year 6, at 75K miles, I was told it needed a new turbocharger, a $3200 repair. The A5 also didn't feel planted anymore - anything above 65 mph made me nervous! This was July 2018: new turbocarger and possibly a new suspension? I decided to look into a new 2018 A5 Coupe and sell my 2013 rather than have the turbocharger replaced (I wasn't sure the turbocharger replacement was necessary because the check engine light never came back on - I was afraid my dealer might be trying get me to commit to an unnecessary repair). Anyway, the 2018 search began with test drives and studying what was still available at the end of a model year (bad timing) and here's the conclusion I came to after several months: Audi messed up the A5. Everything I loved about my 2013 A5 was not to be found in the 2018 A5: the exterior lines were not as smooth, the fog lights no longer visible, and worst of all, the interior was a step backward - it seemed TOO big with TOO much wood inlay. After trying to convince myself to lease a 2018 A5 and feeling that 2019 was going to be worse with unwanted S-Line blades all over the place and no more Scuba Blue paint (!), I said screw it and bought a 2018 Honda Civic EX-L coupe, which I'm enjoying very much. In hindsight, I should have sold the 2013 A5 in 2017 before spending on the tires and brakes and leased a new 2017 A5! Lesson learned!! I just needed to vent and I thought this forum would appreciate that I feel the B8 is the better model than the B9 - but as a 3-4 year lease!

I definitely feel this way about the styling.....as far as the engine maintenance, the 2.0T can be a high maintenance engine. Replacing the common failure pieces and making sure there is no boost leak etc is a big piece of things.
