Cure for unwanted brake dust?
I have a 2010 A5 cabriolet and would like to know what brand of ceramic pads will be best to stop the car under normal driving conditions (daily town driving) and help with the excessive brake dust. Also, is this normal for my car? Thanks.

They've since gone to cleaner (ceramic) pads on the low performance cars. We think they started fitting them to cars sent to the USA late in the 2010MY production run. My '11 A4 had them as did my wife's 2015 Q5. Essentially dust-free, but poor stopping performance. I've found some semi-metallics from Centric that are fairly clean. I'm also experimenting right now with a Bosch hybrid compound in one car and a Raybestos hybrid pad in another. These new pads are super-clean but seem to leave something to be desired in terms of stopping power. Poor braking performance, when everything is cold first thing in the AM, is a non-starter for me.

Thanks for your input. I'll sure want to hear what you come up with as your favorite pad. The excessive dust is a real pain for me. I like to keep my wheels clean and all I have to do is drive in town for 10 minutes and they are covered in dust again. I have noticed diminished stopping power on other vehicles when I changed to ceramic, but nothing that seemed unmanageable. I love my Audi, but the dust has to go.

Get Akebono's. Almost no dust, good stopping power (after it warms up, takes 1 or 2 stop signs/lights), and no squeaks.
Much better than the original pads on my 2013 Coupe quattro.

Akebono on my S5 (per a lot of other posts on various forums) When I go my S5, I felt I should invest in wheel clearer stock I was using so much. Every stop light I figured I would need to get out and clean the wheels lol. Virtually no dust with the Akebonos

Yeah, the dust from the Audi pads on my 15 S5 Cab is the worst I've ever had with a car. Normally I would wait for the pads to be worn but since I just got the car and the dealer put on new brakes as part of the CPO I have a feeling I'm going to swap these out for the Akebonos long before that.

Yep similar here. 2014 CPO purchased March 2017.....utterly fed up with how fast the rims were black...….ordered Akebono pads in May
(BTW what color is your S5? Mine is a Estroil blue S5 Cab)

I can relate...but dust virtually non existent when I changed to EBC on my 2013 A6, great stopping power. Changed at 70K, still plenty of pad left. See sig.
Liked them so much I have a set in my garage for my S5 waiting for the right time to change them, will be sooner rather than later....
