RS5 Rear Mounted Camera
Hello all,
So I figured I would start this thread, in addition to the other one, based on specific locations and types (FLIR v Parking v Video).
RS5 Front Mounted Camera
So I took a standard 4" L bracket, formed it to fit around the seat top,
then bent forward to clear the deck lid as it opens and closes..
The holes are predrilled and not centered, so for now I am holding off on the final install of the rear camera.
BTW, the camera's power and video run over just (1) wire!
More on this thread in the near future.
Thanks for looking!

RS Rear Driving Camera Install update
Hello ,
With some free time on hand, i took to making a 2nd version of the rear driving camera/antenna mount, as the 1st one was ugly one off.
This second version is using some semi-rigid sheet metal
Bent to fit, I now have a template to use for a 3d scan to make a 3rd generation mount out of plastic
The printed 3d plastic version will have a hollow center channel to hide the wires that are visible here
The original plastic pop in pin holds it in place and a final metal screw (not pictured) hold the base in place
The odd bend in the mount is necessary for the rear seats to pop forward and lock back into place, as well as the rear deck lid travels forward so much that I only have 1/8" between the lid and the lens when in motion..
Here is a youtube video of the lid flying by the camera..
Here is a view from the back with the top down...
and with the top up...
and what I see in the mirror..
As for the view itself, I think the 1st printed version will be about an inch higher so that I can see more of the vehicles behind me, especially with the top up.
Here is the current view top down...
And the same, top up...
As for the cabling, its relatively easy to get from the rear to the front...
1st go through a small cut out hole behind the plastic..
Then cut across, continuing behind the plastic cover over to the rear passenger, top of the seatbelt area...
Then go down along the outside edge, of the rear seats side back rests...
Then go forward along and below the bench portion of the rear seat until you meet the rear portion of the rocker panel channel... behind the passenger seat
From there it's a straight shot forward to the glove box area...
Next up, the two side mirror cameras...
All 4 driving cameras will eventually meet up to get connected to my 4-channel DVR recorder, when it arrives for next weekend
Enjoy for now!
