I was having a discussion and it got me to think what everyone's percentage of MSRP experience has been when you traded in your A5/S5. In other words, what was the percentage of MSRP list price (not what you actually negotiated) relative to your trade-in offer.

Example - if the MSRP at the time of sale was $60,000 and after 4 years, you got $30,000 as a trade-in offer, this would result in a 50% value.

Just curious what has been your experience. Kelly Blue Book is not realistic and dealers almost always used Kelly Black Book to start their offer. Please also indicate the model year of the car and mileage as it affects the final trade-in value. Thanks!

My 2011 Cab S5 had a MSRP of 65K paid 60. Two months ago right when I sold it the 2011's with 8-16K on them had been bringing 53-56,000 wholesale at Manhein Auctions. This was in excellent condition. The cab's hold there value much better in real life than the coupes. Again condition is everything. Now with the updated 2013 that will change a little. There is no way a S5 with low miles will loose 50% after 4 years retail

Purchased a 2009 A5 in August 2008 for $44,550 (Sticker was $44,800). Traded in September of 2011 with 60K miles for a 2012 S5 and got $30,750 on trade or 69% of purchase price.
So, give me a hint of what the S5 will be worth when my RS5 arrives in February?

Wow!!! 69% sounds like a great deal.

My mint condition 2008 S5 with 10,000 miles came in at 55% after 5 years and I thought I did good. Yours was great.
