I'm not a fan of the A4. Especially the old model, which is what you would be buying.
However, if you can get a well specced one at a good price and dont mind the fact its old tech and likely to drop in value fast, then go for it.
I would think its a personal preference. I am sure those in the A4/S4 forum would be more positive but I wouldnt be.

I owned a 2007 s4 cab. It was a fun car but I wouldnt want to own the old body style. The new a5/s5 cab is replacing that body.
you should get a really deep discount. im thinking an 06 w/ low miles would go for $25,000
