UPDATE - MODEL YEAR & VIN DON'T MATCH
To Recap - I ordered a 2012 A5 at the end of June. The car arrived at my Nashua, NH Audi dealership last week. When I reviewed the paperwork I was emailed, I found that the car was listed as a 2011 and I confirmed this via the VIN# (which has a "B" in the 10th position) with AofA. The window sticker did show the car as a 2012 with all the options I wanted, but it also showed the 2011 VIN.
The Resolution - AofA is still investigating. The Nashua, NH dealer blamed Audi entirely and offered me $400.00 off the price and an $800.00 service plan but hung up on me when I refused the car and to continue dealing with them. He could not explain why I had to be the one to catch this and not him or his dealership. This is a bad start to my first Audi purchase, but I hope to rectify it with a different dealer. Stay tuned...............

400 dollars off what price? MSRP?
The free Audi Care is a nice start- it's usually one of the first give sways in this type situation.
My question is simple- is this a 2011 or 2012? I understand what the window sticker says but the VIN is diffrent. Further, when you sell this car you can't sell it as a 2012. The VIN won't support that. So the question now is, if your dealer had the same exact car- 1 a 2011 that they wanted to move and 2 a 2012 they just got, what would the dealer set the price delta between them at? Granted, in your case they will say "very little" but you know it's 1500-2k at minimum. That's what I would want as a difference. Because that's the hit you will take when you sell it for it being an 11 and not a 12.
Simple question- if you traded in that car tomorrow would they buy it from you as a 12 or an 11? Of course an 11 based on the zip.
I agree with Phantom- get the car it's what you want and there is little change 11 to 12 but make sure you are paying for an 11 not a 12.
I get that your dealer is pissesd, they are left holding the bag- because they paid for a 12. But that's between them and the OEM to settle...

I keep hearing how difficult it is to get an A5/S5. I also hear how they hold their value. I waited three months for my car and it was killing me. If the car is everything you want, see if you can get more out of them and take it. I find that the cars sitting on lots are odd in some way or are lacking content. You will have to start from scratch and wait another few months IF they have something on the allocation to change.

This will be a pain in the add if you ever sell it. But I would not blame the dealer as much AoA. But the dealer should not be so pissy and help you. I am sure that the vin is wrong somewhere down the line. Does it match another car. Does it match THE car with all the engine and options. Don't give up.
