Default Using heated seats turns on A/C

Is it normal for the A/C to come on when you turn on the heated seats in a 2012 Audi S5? I use to have both a 2015 A4 and 2016 SQ5 so this is throwing me off on how I thought the climate controls should be working even though I know the system is a little older (but similar). Thanks!

Not my picture but this is what my climate control buttons look like incase there are different variations.

Your temp setting shows "Low" which would mean very cold. Because of this, it assumes you want the benefit of the AC. Try selecting one click above LOW for both driver and passenger and then select the heated seats. The AC can be turned off after the fact anyway.

Oh, that's a stock image of my interior I googled. I have my temp set at 73. So it's normal for the A/C to come on when turning on the heated seats? In the newer Audi's I owned turning on the heated seats didn't also turn on the climate controls. I just wanted to make sure my climate control module doesn't need to be replaced and that this is normal behavior. Sometimes I just want the seat warmers on without the heat.

My S5 is a 2015. Seat heat does not turn on the HVAC if it is in OFF mode. But I guess you already knew that.
I went out and checked our 2011 Q7 (waiting to go back to Audi in the TDI settlement) and it DOES turn on the HVAC if seat heat is chosen.
It does not have indicator leds on the buttons like the 2015 S5 has. The heat level chosen is shown briefly in the respective temp setting display ( and on the MMI screen) I agree that the newer way is preferable but this probably indicates that what you are seeing on the 2013 is normal.
Now to check our new to us 2015 Q7 ( we bought a fixed TDI to replace the 2011) I expect it too is the old way because the seat heat buttons do not have dedicated indicator leds. Edit: The 2015 Q7 is the same as the 2011.

^^^^^ I was going to say relatively the same thing. If the HVAC is off, any selection "should" trigger the HVAC to come on. I never turn my HVAC ON proper but rather I select the fan speed button which automatically turns the HVAC on. Now bear in mind if you have a temp selection that is colder then what the ambient sensors detect, then of course, your AC will also be turned on as well. Having said all that. I assume with a temp selection of 73 and the ambient temp sensors detect a temp higher then 73, then it will also turn on your AC when you select your heated seats.
