Default yet ANOTHER wheel/tire question...

ok...yet ANOTHER wheel question...
Hello all. Continuing my quest for the perfect S5. I need wheels. I think I want 19" because of the really crappy roads here in Michigan or would 20" really make a difference. The car will be a Stasis Challenge Edition minus the wheels and tires. I want a MESH wheel, (ala HRE 560r, Modulare M14), with either a concave or flat face and I want a prominent lip. I'm thinking 19x9.5 or 19x10. I'm not so much looking for staggered but I would like to run a 275 or 285 tire. I have searched the forums here and on AZ but alas, I am still confused. Please help.

How do you figure? Larger wheels roll over obstacles more easily because of the decreased angle with which the wheel strikes the object...

But with the decreased distance between the tire and the rim, you'll have a much higher probability of damaging the wheel. Michigan roads are said to be among the worse in the country, mainly because of weather.

WTF! You can’t honestly believe this. The difference OD in the choices available is +/- 3%, meaning virtually no difference in the strike angle.

Well for what its worth, I can't do 18's because they won't fit over the brakes.

i wouldn't even think about 20's- damage potential will be rise significantly (lower aspect ratio); and at the very least you will definitely feel every crack or hole in the road.

unless you upgraded your brakes, 18's work. Many people have them on their S5's

Still trying to decide between the 380mm Brembo GT's in Yellow or the 370mm Stasis Alcon's

Do we known who stasis buys those calipers from?

If your between Brembo and unknown, It seems obvious to go Brembo. I'd pick something track tested and proven like AP Racing over those Stasis. Nothing against them but it's always smarter to choose the brake SPECIALISTS when it comes to brakes...
