Hi All! I have a new S5 sport back, and the front license plate was only attached by the bottom 2 screws. There is no way I will screw the top 2 into the grill. Any suggestions? I'm hoping others have run into this issue as well, and can provide me a fix. Thank you in advance!

Not sure what you are looking for. You either make holes in the bumper for the top two screws or you don't. If you don't, should be fine though you might put some padding on the back of the plate if it's flimsy and tapping the bumper.

It’s not the bumper, it’s the grill. Car cost $80 k. Not drilling any holes into it. Wouldn’t have posted here to do something that stupid. Thanks but will research myself.

Just picked up my 2023 S5 and they drilled right into the grille with 2 top screws. Irks me, but thats what they do. Lucky you they didn't drill into the grille. What are those threaded holes for machine screws for that are right under the license plate. The 2 holes are too far apart for a license plate frame, unless it is for a mounting frame and then the license plate goes on top of that.

The brackets that mount to the radiator grill are for the lower hole mounts for non-Japan markets, as Japan plates have only the two upper holes. The M6 threaded inserts are for China, which runs slightly wider than Japan. For US, they expect you to just screw into the plastic at the indentation marks. For the China and Japan upper holes, you drill the grill and mount plastic M6 threaded inserts to produce the bolt holes, per the workshop manual. For the US upper holes, again, you just screw into the plastic, wherever the plate holes land.

I just flat out refused them drilling or putting any holes in my car. I live in a front license required state but feel it’s a crime against humanity to ruin the front of these cars so I just keep my front plate in the trunk.

That is decent looking and Audi should have had something like this......for me, the holes are already drilled into the grille. Grrrrrr.

Unfortunately when I checked the “STO ‘N’ Show” website they seem to have cut back on the number of cars they support.
@ObiRS5 — Same state and have run “front-plate-free” for more than 5 years (though I do have the STO ‘N’ Show mount and my front plate in the backseat). With our State Inspection requirements, I don’t even put the front plate on to go through the process.
For the non-NJ drivers, our State mandated, every other year inspection consists of a computer connection to the OBD port for emissions testing and then you are out the door. Worrisome when I see some of the “wrecks” around me on the roads; bald tires, squealing brakes, pogo stick suspensions, rusted out bodies …
