35 years of Evolution
I was on a bicycle ride yesterday and came across an early '80's Audi GT parked next to a 2018 A5 Coupe. I moved to Texas in 1982 driving a very similar looking Audi 4000 sedan. The GT looked to be in a partially restored condition and it had been years since I have seen one. Interesting to see it right next to a new Audi.

My roommate had an early 80’s Audi like that and he went thru hell with it. It was so mechanically unreliabe and expensive I swore I’d never own one...
what a difference 35(ish) years makes.

Back in 1983, it was either this or a VW Golf GTI. The GTI was faster 0 to 60 according to Road & Track.

Rabbit GTI in North America in 1983...
As I recall the GTI was considerably heavier and slower than the real Golf GTI. But still much quicker and spiffier than my 1980 Corolla SR5 liftback that just wouldn't die.

Checkout the big clunky fog/driving lights hanging off the front bumper of the Audi, cannot believe that I used those too! If you had those on your car along with a mullet hair style, you were the "man."
