Thanks guys. The car has arrived at the dealership. Will take delivery on Monday... although having second thoughts after reading about all the lag issues in another thread. What are your experiences with the throttle response?

My car is finally on the ship heading to the US. I should have it by the middle of September.

about the throttle response. The dealership let me take the car for 2 days and I personally thought the throttle response was just fine.

Congrats! I do about 50-50 in D / S. I have never experienced any lag while driving in D. When I leave my house, there is a street that I usually have to drive with about 7 stop signs in less than a mile. So plenty of stop-go, near stop go cycles I've done in D. With that said, my hand is usually on the shifter and if I anticipate an aggressive move, it's just common sense to quick pull it back and enter S mode. I don't do that because I am concerned about a slow throttle response. D mode is always putting you in the highest gear as soon as possible, so your RPMs are always very low in D. A quick pull back to S will likely result in a downshift and ready for instant acceleration. (Or at least fractions of a second faster that what it would have been in D.)

That's my experience. Clearly there are others who have different experiences.

Take your new ride for an extended test drive prior to finalizing the deal and see how it responds for you.

I have the same experience as Trade_it_all_4_more as far as throttle response. Coming from Manual transmissions for the last 40 years, my right hand is always on or very near the shifter, so I am prepared to pul it back into S mode if I need that instant response. So far, after 2 months of owning my car, i’ve never “needed” to pull it back into S — but that doesn’t mean I haven’t pulled it back for some “spirited driving” on the road.

As stated before, I’m not doubting people who have posted in this and other threads about the problem — I’ve just never experienced it.

Congratulations and Happy Motoring!

For me, S provides the perfect driving experience so i keep it there almost 100% of the time. Since I have the adaptive suspension, I have found I can set the suspension to comfort for everyday driving using the individual settings and then when on the back twisties, I can switch it to dynamic with just a push of a button. Audi really hit it out of the park with this model in my opinion. I have been extremely pleased for the 12,000 miles I have now (most of these miles have been fun back country roads and day trips to the Oregon Coast).
