Default Audi S5 not starting/turning over

Hi guys first post got my s5 a few weeks ago and i love it but not today
ill try be as brief as possible, Audi S5 2008 4.2 V8
Car was working yesterday went to pick a takeaway up and when i came out it wouldn't start, there is no attempt to turn over at all luckily was pointing down hill so managed to do a rolling start, at this point i thought it was the battery so conditioned it over night and still nothing today, had it on the diagnostics but no fault codes, there seems to be no attempt from the starter at all, i would possibly say it was a lazy starter before this though but as this is the only audi i have had i couldnt say if its normal?
has anyone had a similar issue any help would be massively appreciated

thanks in advance

Brad

Welcome to AudiWorld.

Is there any warning / message on your virtual dashboard? Can you really jam down the brake pedal and try it again? Where is your key fob - try putting it in the area on the console between the seats and finally, did you try both key fobs? Last idea — leave your cellphone in the house.

I hope one of these helps.

Hi john thanks for the reply
so theres no warnings on the dash, everything looks normal and ready to go, tried stamping the brake and clutch down, the key fob is in the slot its not keyless and tried the other fob but that gives me an unrecognized warning

thanks

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid. Diagnostics should reveal a "Stuck Starter" or related fault if that is the case. This is if using the Ross-Tech diagnostic interface & software or equivalent. . Not a generic scan tool.

Did you get it fixed? 12424 is for a Starter relay fault. So first thing I would do is change the relay but being that the car is 13yrs old it could be the starter which is a lot of work. The starter can come out from the front but the car needs to be in the service position and the Alternator needs to be removed so the starter can come out forward. There is a bolt on the starter side flange holding it in as well as one going through the bell housing from the back which can be accessed from below with all of the belly pans and X-brace removed.
