Default I have the Hankooks...

2018 S5 Sportback in Canada. I believe that the S1 Evo 2 was discontinued and hence not supplied on 2019s.

Tirerack lists the following tires as Original Equipement:

- Bridgestone Potenza S001 - AO Audi
- Continental ContiSportContact 5P - AO Audi
- Continental SportContact 6 - R01 Audi
- Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT
- Pirelli P Zero - AO Audi
- Pirelli P Zero Rosso

I'm surprise that the Sport Max and the Roso are not AO Audi. However, the R01 Audi marking of the SportContact make me wondering...

After a little search, it seems that R01 Audi tires are R / RS range model specific.

This is true in the past. Moving forward, every new fitment is marked "AO" and the R01/R02 isn't used. For reference, RS 5 with 20" wheels has AO marked ContiSportContact 6 tires, not R01.

Regarding what tires are on what wheels/model, it is completely random what tires will be installed based on availability. There are two to three fitments per tire size, and after that it's all up in the air.

Yes, the 275/30R20 is AO but some SportContact 6 sizes are available with the R01 and R02 marking. Particularly the 245/35R19 which is available with either the R01 or R02 marking.

According to https://www.audi.de/de/brand/de/kund...fenwissen.html

- AO = Audi Genuine tires
- AOE = Audi Genuine tires with extended emergency running properties
- RO1 / RO2 / RO3 = Audi Genuine tires for Audi Sport GmbH vehicles

Yes, this is correct, however, as I stated moving forward the R01 marker won’t be used for new fitments. Everything is AO marked.

And R01/R02 is the same, however if there is figment first for one model and then a second model takes it (and thus the compound and tire is different), then the second tire is R02. For example, the 19” Pirelli from the 1st gen R8 (R01) and the 19” Pirelli (R02) that’s optional on the S3.

Default counting the angels on the head of a valve pin...

In the scheme of things, while I'm sure Audi keeps a weather eye on the price, the Hankooks have been a pretty good tire. Particularly noticeable this time of year is the absence of any tram-lining and stability through standing water. When I first got the tire I thought the ride was bone rattling, but the dealer had inflated the tires to maximum load. Now at 38 front and 35 rear the ride is fine.
