Well, something must be going on at AoA. Today my car's MMI put up a small exclamation point in the upper left corner. When I selected it, I got the screen below. After a bit of searching online for "Action number 5713" it apparently refers to contacting Audi about the key. I plan on calling my dealer tomorrow about this.
Anyone else get this?

UPDATE: After talking to my local dealership they stated that an owner has to first receive this "Action # 5713" before they can go and actually place an order for the 2nd key. These have apparently just started to roll-out as I was the first of their customers to call about this. They are going to place an order, but they had no idea on what the ETA might be.

Got the call yesterday, 7 days after the dealer ordered it. Now a few days' wait for the appointment.

few days to schedule an appointment to program keys? honestly the key should be programmed already but if not that should be an hour at most and they should be able to squeeze you in easily...

They have to have both keys and need to program the acceptance of both. That's how it has been described to me for some time. It is an hour or less. I'd rather know they are ready for me than show up and wait, when others are there for their prior appointments.

That's good to hear.
It's been about a week for me too since they ordered it. Hopefully I'll hear from the dealer soon.

Exactly correct. When I bought my third key (to bury in the remote start) they had to:
  1. Have both of my original key fobs
  2. Re-program the MMI to accept (3) keys as programmed, via a connection to the “father ship” back in Germany
  3. Cut the physical “blade” key (in this situation, you may get the second fob w/o the blade key as it should have been delivered with the car)
It took about 45 minutes to get this all done.

Yep. I was there about 35 minutes. Quicker then they allotted for. Not a bad experience at all.

I figured they could make a key that would work out of the box, but no that makes too much sense. I have had the same thing happen for many VAG vehicles with remote start and a 3rd key... I know this dumb process all too well.

Well, for me, I’m fine with this process as it prevents someone from high jacking my car with a non-registered-to-my-car fob / key. 45 minutes for my peace of mind — priceless!
