Default Efficiency mode Audi drive select??

Was on Instagram today and audi_obsession posted a photo of an RS5 interior (based off the screen graphic on the MMI)... curiously, the Audi drive select options include “efficiency mode”... My 2018 S5 SB doesn’t provide me with that option... Is that an option on the RS5 only, or is that a 2019 addition?

Seems odd that they would give their High performance RS models an effiency mode but not their mid and lower models the same option, so I’m guessing it’s a 2019 update? But why wouldn’t they push that firmware to “older” B9 models...

Can someone explain what’s going on here? I’ll attach a photo for reference...

^ Efficiency mode is available in some parts of the world but not included in North America.

I've been asking about this in the A4 forums. I think it's a coding that can be added. The efficiency option seems to be available in some markets but not all - at least prior to 2018. It would be great if we could find the coding to enable it in North America.

From what I hear from people who have it, you don't want it.

The efficiency option seems to be different than comfort. I'm not sure why people wouldn't want it. If it's more efficient why wouldn't you want it? Or at least to have the option

I enjoy being very inefficient...dynamic + sport to the point of where just dynamic alone, isn’t near as fun and feels sluggish. I only use comfort in “bad” weather, so I don’t go and have to much fun driving. However, I could see where efficient mode would be useful for long and straight trips on the highway.

Threads here describe the lethargic and generally terrible throttle response from "Efficiency", including calling it "unbearable". I don't know why they choose not to include it in NA (or maybe just US models), but I haven't seen anyone who has it extol its virtues here.
