glacier white paint
i live in n.y. / n.j .area.
dealers here have no glacier white touch up from audi in parts dept.
they are all having batches made from local body shops,
and packaging it in 2 small containers for customers.
i never heard of anything like that before.
does anyone know why audi is not supplying dealers,
what the issue is ,and when it will be resolved?

a pearl white paint is multi stage paint, meaning it needs more than just a base color coat. That's why they are giving you 2 boxes. I would be very surprised if they are getting it from a local body shop since it would really not be worth the body shops time and effort to mix something like that for a local dealer. I know several other manufacturers who have the same thing and it does come from the manafacture and not a local body shop.

Joey, we've got Glacier White paint, too. As mentioned, it's a multi stage paint process and a little bottle of touch up paint can't replicate the factory's color.
Plan B: Dr. Colorchip has a paint that's fairly close, I've purchased it. The color match and appearance are pretty good. They are also going to state it's a multi-step paint process and their color match is only going to be so good.

Being in the NJ/NY Area, i can vouch for what he is saying. There used to be glacier white Touch up, but it didnt match well at all. Assuming enough people complained to AOA and eventually it just stopped showing up lol
As far as the dealers giving you mixed paint from the body shop, i havent heard of that. We direct customers to the body shops after explaining why the touch up isnt available and the normally understand.

im aware its two stage, and so i understand the 2 containers.
i contacted 4 dealers in new jersey in a 35 mile radius.
flemington, bridgewater, princeton,and bell.
2 had none, 1 had 1, and 1 had a few. princeton was nice enough to give it to me at no cost. while others quoted me $30.
the story i was told from a few of them is audi stopped sending it. they cant get it.
they are getting batches made from local body shops, and doing homemade packaging.
it is not made by audi ,it is a generic version.
what i dont know is the reason why?
there is a problem in distribution, and i can only assume its because of a flaw in the product.
i assume audi is aware and working to correct it. in the interim it appears audi either at the corporate level or dealership level appears to be filling the void by outsourcing it. at least in my region.

I had to resort to eBay to get mine. Audi does make it as OEM, just not here (US). Part number is ALST-0M2-S9RS and the color code is LS9R/2Y/S9R. Just search for the part number on eBay and it's be about $25 or so shipped. These part numbers/codes are for Glacier White only.
