A Great Dane in coupè backseat
Hi. Tomorrow I will foster a 2 yo Great Dane with possibility of adoption. My gripe is whether it will fit in the car. Please, anyone’s experience to share?

I don't know if that great dane will fit in ANY car! I would recommend some protection for the back seats and doors. I've been very happy with this . I regularly take my 'normal' sized golden retriever for rides in the car. I leave the windows up while driving to minimize the fur flying around, but she does tend to leave nose prints on the inside of the passenger side windows.

I have 2017 A4 allroad, and a greyhound, he is about 31in tall [his front shoulders to the ground] lots of people think he is a dane. Google says the average great dane is 28 to 32in so these would be two similar sized animals. i can get my dog into my back seat i keep the sun shade open on the sun roof because it gives him a bit more snoot room. He can use my head rest as a nose rest while i drive there is no way i am getting a second dog back there and he has to duck a bit to peek out.
according to car and driver
back seat of my car is 37.4 in of head room and 54.5 shoulder room
yours might be 36.1 head and 50.7 shoulder
so you can get him back there, its a tight squeeze, i would put a good seat cover in the back, one that covers the gap between the front and back row it gives them more paw space to turn around in [i use this one https://www.dogshell.com/], and get door covers too for claws on your door handles.

My German Shepherd doesn't fit in the back seat, hits her head. I have her ride in the front seat with a seatbelt and have the seat all the way back. Its not a comfortable situation though and doubt shes happy with ,e selling the sportback for this coupe.

So that's what they mean when I hear the expression: "big dog."
