Default How many of you use a Faraday shield bag for your key fobs?

I'm sure you've all seen the videos or heard of cars being stolen by the key fob signal being boosted. Not sure how susceptible Audi's are to this, but I'm guessing they are.

When at home, do you put the key fobs in a Faraday shield bag?

They are as susceptible as other brands, but no I don't. I park my cars out of sight in my garage at home. I don't even lock them. You are a potential victim for this attack vector if you park your car in your driveway and keep the fob in your house on the ground floor close to the front door. For this attack to work, one of the thieves has to get close to your key fob with a device that picks up the signal from the fob and relays it to the other thief standing with the same device next to your car. This tricks the car into thinking that the key fob is in proximity. If the key fob is far enough from the front door, they can't pick up a signal. Most people drop their keys off by the front door, so they are making themselves a relatively easy target if they park their car in the driveway.

If I was going to be concerned about it, I would probably just install shielding in the drawer where I drop them every day. Messing with a bag every day sounds annoying.

When our cars are home, they are parked in the garage. Keys hang on the refrigerator — 75 feet away from the cars. Not even a blip on my security thoughts.

These guys can relay the signal even if your keys aren't by the door, but it requires some highly directional antennas and it would be difficult if they don't know exactly where your keys are. These things are only short range because they are low power, but a directional antenna can get past that. Honestly, I'm not that concerned about it though. I don't keep stuff in my car and I've got insurance. Just can't worry myself with this type of stuff in life, I guess.

Do you also shield your credit cards? your cell phone? Maybe just live in a shielded bubble where it is nice and safe

I do. I'm more concerned with the radiation from the key, especially because I keep it in my pocket all the time. My car is in the garage, and the key is inside the cabinet so my car isn't going anywhere. Here is the one I bought.
