I actually decided to buy one early November and dealer said it was about to arrive at port. Original ETA for release was early Dec so only a month delay for me really.

But yes, for those who ordered when books opened, it’s been a long wait.

Yup, I ordered mine a month after the Manhatten debut back in April.

How were you able to order so soon? I would have if I had that option. I kept checking with my dealer and as soon as they were able to submit an order they did and that wasn't until September.

I didn't get to place my order until October, even though I was pestering my dealer on a regular basis and supposedly I was at the top of the "wait list".

I get the feeling some dealers are more in the loop then others. Orders were obviously submitted before September and in your case before October so I wonder why certain dealers weren't aware of how to put orders in sooner.

I think there are 2 types of dealers: The "regular Audi" dealers and the dealers who have qualified for the "Audi Sport Dealers." Do Not Quote me on this - it's something I read somewhere, some time ago.

I'm Not Sure!

I wonder if it was to do with allocation ? i.e. maybe they wouldn't let me order until they had a slot available. My dealership (Audi Denver) is the largest in Colorado and I would expect they would be aware of how to order sooner. Perhaps it's just my sales guy ? It doesn't matter now, and I think it actually worked out in my favor as I'm hoping I won't have to immediately install snow tires as my car is currently estimated to arrive end of March / early April.

Edit: Audi Denver is definitely an "Audi Sport Dealer".

You are correct - https://media.audiusa.com/models/audi-sport
Audi Sport Dealers

More than half of Audi dealers have made the investment to become specialized Audi Sport dealers. As a designated Audi Sport dealer, Audi Brand Specialists complete specific Audi Sport training and showrooms feature unique Audi Sport displays.

Well at least something good comes out of the waiting for you.

I was not aware that there were "regular Audi" dealers and "Audi Sport dealers". Appreciate that info. I looked into that and both of the dealers I ordered from are indeed Audi Sport dealers. They are also both apart of the "Audi Magna Society Elite". These are the two biggest Audi dealerships in Houston. Not sure why they weren't in the loop on the early ordering.
