Default Pothole got me!

Was merging on the highway Monday night going about 65mph and bam, didn't even see the pothole in the dark. Surprised to see little to no damage to the tire, but the rim really had it. Going to a local shop here in Indy to check it out in the next couple of days, hopefully it can be fixed!

Hopefully you have the wheel/tire protection package—should be required with the 19” or above.

I'm 0 for 4 as far as rims being repairable after pot hole damage...

Looks like a fixable damage. Where I am there are several shops that do such repair there is also a franchize that does that in their mobile truck.

Got the wheel of the car, looks a bit worse than I thought, there is crack and it looks like some of the balancing weights fell off from the impact, see pics below. Also, weighed the wheel and tire, was 54.4 lbs, the tire is about 26 lbs (per Tire Rack specs), making the rim around 28-29lbs, not bad for the factory 19" 10-spoke.

That is the reason I will never have anything more than 18" wheels and tires. I barely drive my A5 Cab in the winter here in NY. Too many potholes.

Yeah — I’m pretty sure that WON’T buff out! I can only hope you bought a “wheel & tire” insurance plan when you bought your car.

Past experience taught me to “bite the bullet” and buy that insurance.
