Got the car back from the shop, the body repair is meticulous all seams perfectly lined up, the paint job is top notch, except for minor clear coat over-spray on the driver door rocker panel. The shop wants me to drive the heck out for two weeks and then bring back the car for a check up. All seems to be working fine except the active lane keep assist, it is intermittent, it was working fine after the accident. I will get them fix the lane keep assist when I take the car back.

Total repair cost $5126, that includes $2863 parts ($2100 for left headlight, rest the fender, brackets and other doodads inside), the rest is body and paint labor, paint, wheel rim refinish, misc and taxes. The plastic bumper cover apparently snapped back to shape and was reusable,

Got the shop to install the 4 splash guards too, $254 installed.

I had very similar damage to yours. I just finished doing a wash, machine polish and waxing today. Despite looking at the car in great detail during this process, I can't tell the panels were fixed and repainted from the ones that are still original. In fact I kind of forgot my car was ever damaged at all. Thankfully (and thanks to an excellent body shop) it sounds like you are heading down that same path to forgetting it ever happened.

The body shop told me to wait at least one month to let the paint fully cure for sure before paint sealing, the car is mostly in garages and don't get "sun baked". I will likely wait until October when it gets cooler to do it anyway.

I clearly remember yours as it was a DGP like mine and when you posted your pictures, it really spooked me!

worst part was I had only taken delivery of the car three weeks prior. Then she was gone for 6 weeks. Oh well, happy now. Glad this and 18A5SB repairs have gone well.

I think new car smell is like suicide aphrodisiac to deer. My TSX suffered similar fate when it had only about 500 miles on it. On a side note I read recently that new car smell is very offensive to the Chinese nose car makers in China are trying to find ways to minimize it. Then I recalled an US born Chinese colleague had an air freshener in her brand new BMW.
