Forgive me for the silly question, but how does one complete this update? Is the download completed via PC, saved on a USB drive, and then loaded in the car, or is it downloaded directly to the car? I was looking in the menus today and didn't see anything regarding map updates.

I think should be:
Go to your MyAudi account (not myaudiconnect - that's a different site)
Click on AudiConnect Services and Key User Registration
Under Services, scroll over to Map Update. Click on Map Update
Then you should have the ability to download a region or the entire package to an SD card (requires Java installed on the computer, at least for PC users, not sure about Mac).
The problem for me is that the maps listed on the website are 2018/2019. Not 2019.

I was able to download in them directly through the MMI on the way to work this morning. I had to turn off the car after they had been downloaded, but not installed, so I hope the process can continue when the car is started again.

It must be nice to be able to update maps for free instead of the usual cost of hundreds of dollars for map update disk or usb drive from the dealer. One less income for the dealers, i am surprise went that route. Does anyone know of a way to update free map without paying for the monthly subscription?

There's definitely a limit as to how many regions can you download over the air. I was able to download 3 regions. They are shown as "2019" in the Map Database. The rest of them are "2018/2019"

I got the car to download and update the maps States MD up along the East coast directly from the MMI. Once downloaded it stopped at 80% then fully updated itself once the car was parked. I think I may be able to get the maps from VA down if/when I am in VA. I let the 6 month courtesy membership expire long ago.

For what is it worth, I've been able to download OTA map updates since June of 2017. This isn't a new function, What would be really cool and helpful is if Audi software updates were available OTA (not just maps).
