Put on winter shoes today. Andros wheels with Winter Sottozero3. I ended up going with 36psi all around. Tire rack shipped them to me with 32 psi.

Sottozero 3's are excellent in the dry and wet as well as snow, have them on my R. You'll be happy to have them in PNW

It was between the Pirelli and Michelin Alpine during the decision making. No regret here going with Pirelli!

I got away with the cheapest set I think. The Yokohama V905's are W speed rated. Plenty of caliper clearance on the Sport Edition P4 rims

Tomorrow I get my Nokian Hakka R2's installed on my OEM 18" wheels

I went with 235/45/R18 (one sidewall aspect up) to ensure my blizzard drives are not stopped by anything will post pics once I have them on

New S5 Cassis Sportback arrived and it is awesome! I have 19" oem wheels with summer tires and am ready to order some tirerack winter wheels and tires. I love the look of the 19"s, so I am throwing around the idea of sticking with a 19" winter wheel. I know it will be worse winter performance than 18", but I wanted to get others' opinions to see if this is a bad idea. We don't drive too much in the snow as we have some other AWD vehicles, but I still want it to have decent winter traction. Think it is a mistake going with 19s?

ps. this exclusive cassis color is crazy. It is a grape/purple color sometimes and then looks like a wine red metallic other times. I'll post pics.

thanks

I went with 19 winters on the stock Cavos - can't even tell that the car is on winters from few feet back, which i like. Bring on the white stuff!

I also have the Michelin Alpin winter tires on my stock 19" Cavos. Just need some snow now for the big test.

Way too expensive in my book. I can get a setup from Simply Tire with 18in VMR rims and Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s for roughly $1000 cheaper.
My dealer did a little better: $2400 for an 18" setup, no surcharges and front and rear S5 rubber mats thrown in. A nice multi-spoke grey alloy wheel and Sottozero 3s. Plus they delivered the summers to me when they concierged the car. A nice surprise as I expected to be gouged much more thoroughly. If the car hadn't been late I would no doubt have shopped on my own.

Winter is finally over and that means I can put my summer tire back on. I bought a rubber pinch weld protector but it was way too unstable, I wouldn't recommend it. I just jacked it up on the regular jack pad. Bolts should be torqued to 90ft/lbs
