Default Doesn't want to start with 2nd key

So this morning my wife went to take our S5 and it wouldn't start "told her the key wasn't present or something along these lines". So I went out to give it a MAN try with my key and it fired right up, shut the car off again and try her key still no luck. Try again after pressing one of the unlock buttons on her key fob and now it starts. wtf audi is going on? Actually this is the second time something similar has happened with the S5, it's rather scary to think it might leave one of use stranded somewhere.

On second thought maybe I have found the secret wife lockout feature. Should I just tell her sorry you can't drive the S5?

Anyone have a similar experience?

When you get that message, just place the key in the front of the center armrest (there is a little key symbol there) and then the car will start.

Maybe they forgot to put a battery in the 2nd key. That's the place I would start.

Ok, I will give it a try next time. Thank you.

Perhaps the battery is getting low as we have had the car 5 months. I'll check that also. Thank you.

The signal might have also been blocked if it was in her purse and/or next to a cell phone. That might be why it worked after pressing a button on the remote (since you had to move the fob to press the button).

Same thing happened when I tried the 2nd key for the first time. Did the hold key in center armrest and it worked ever since.
