Default "Surging" - Is it?

Heya All,

I sometimes notice while accelerating, my vehicle sometimes boggs a little before taking off.

Would this be considered "surging" which can be addressed by a DV upgrade?

Thanks!
Gavin

Default Kind of spitting.?

This is what happened to me three weeks after the APR Chip and then a month or so after the TT Valves replaced the stock 710.

Next step Gavin... I'm happy with the 007's no spitting or surging at all... smooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth

Default Tip or MT? If tip, you could be describing . . .

Tip lag, for which there has been much written. First a lag, then a thrust. Can be tamed with good pedal control.

Default Re: "Surging" - Is it?

My 2001 has two different "surging" symptoms - different problems I think:
1) cold start surging, which is really more of a stumble. I think the exhaust gas recirc pump is over working, or a valve is sticking. Only happens on cold start, back down 75 feet of driveway, hit go, the car stumbles and then pulls away, no more symptoms for the day (and this doesn't happen every day either - weird)
2) going up a gentle incline at light acceleration, maybe a tiny bit into turbo, the car has uneven power - small variations, but the wife has noticed so it is real. I think this is either the MAF (replaced twice already), or the diverters. My next step is to get the diverters replaced under warrantee and see if it solves anything.

Do we have exhaust gas recirc pump? I thought that was only used in the '70s.

Default I have problem #1 exactly in a 2001

Only 30 ft of driveway and dealer was unable to figure it out. However, I was left with...this is a known problem with the transimission and engine. Slow shift plus sometimes is takes the engine and transmission a little while to get in sync. Tech suggested that while backing out..pump the brake to get the engine and tranny on the same page. Personally, I have noticed that I get this when I fill up on a particular brand of gas. So, I don't go there anymore. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I got that this is inherent in the car.

Default Yeah, it's a Tip...

It could be Tip lag, but I do not feel it all the time. It is just sometimes when depressing the accelerator the vehicle will sometime bogg (slow/cough) then take off...

Thanks!
Gavin
