Unless the new calipers facilitate or hinder heat transfer (away from the pads) they can't affect...

Their design can, howver, affect brake torque, pedal feel, etc... but I haven't heard anyone laud the feel of the old HP-2 calipers in the allroad brake system. Consequently, I don't think the new ones are significantly worse, or better.
Personally, I'd prefer the 2-stage brake controller of the new S4, which decreases brake pedal travel when it's pushed forcefully.
