Hello all,
So, I'm about 100 miles into my first Audi ever, and I had a question with respect to the steering issue folks are referncing.
Is it absolutely noticeable? That is to say, if my AR had the issue in question, would one immediately experience the steering flaw?
Reason I ask is, I have no point of reference, and it seems fine to me as is, but...
Thanks,
Mark

Also, you'll feel a bit of resistance when driving down the road... to moving the wheel to the right or left for minor corrections.
Once the wheels... you'll feed a notch (similar to the feel on the MMI ****) --- not as noticeable though.

UPDATE:
The steering rack on my allroad is going to be replaced. The part is on order and will take a couple of weeks.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW: There is a new and updated part number for the steering rack. Before any work is done... make sure your service department is installing the new/updated part and not using a rack with the previous part number.
My service department says it doesn't know what was changed, but says anytime a part has an updated number.... some sort of a change took place.

Any chance you, with your great dealer relationship, find out what that part number is and share it? (and possibly what the old one was?)
I'm curious to see if the rack that was installed in my car last year is new or old.

FYI... the p/n on the paperwork from my 12/27 replacement was:
8K1-423-055-AC
I'm going to go under the car tonight and verify that is the same number installed.
I wouldn't be surprised new racks are working well. My car worked flawlessly too for the first 3k miles. The "new" rack failed the next day after install.
Im not trying to sound like a sour-puss here, but those are my facts.
