Not long ago purchased a 07 A6 allroad and after a very short time the 3rd brake light failed,someone I know mentioned they are a sealed unit and not repairable,I did however read on the net someone had opened one up and repaired it,is this possible or do I order a replacement ?.
Main reason for asking is I don't want to go to the trouble of removing it and find its not repairable,cheers.

3rd brake lights are sealed, get a new one or get the Dremel out and go LED

Cool thanks,apparently you can get them apart....carefully.
I have some LED strip and did think of that,bit worried it will throw a code ? certainly will draw less current so think that may be an issue.

If you get a code or fault on the message center, add a load resistor 6 ohm / 50W
