Default 710N's finally in. Subtle but noticable improvement over OE....

Finally got around to installing my 710N BPV's. the ones in the car ('02 allroad with 18k miles)) were 710B.

Time to install? 1/2 hour. Could have done it quicker but getting off the old pinch clamps was a PITA.

Results? Immediately felt more responsive. Just backing out of the garage and up the driveway. and on the street, boost response seems noticably quicker. Not blindingly fast, but very much there.

On my morning uphill onramp, car holds boost better so acceleration was improved. Topped the ramp +5mph vs. before. And the acceleration is much smoother- no hunting at higher rpms under full boost.

Throttle response on the highway at 75+ is greatly improved. Not just a bit, but noticably.

Worth doing? Absolutely. Especially for $62 worth of parts.

Default This tracks with my experience documented several weeks ago. . .

and I paid $90 from JoeHoppen Motor sports. Indeed, the engine even sounds better!

Default You were my impetus. And yes the engine does indeed sound different...

Thought it was just my imagination.

Default your stock bpv's must have been faulty to notice that much improvement...

'course I found when I added my hyperboosts that the stereo sounded better and the windshield wipers improved...

Default

Look under bypass valves (BPV's), or diverter valves (DV's); (bailey, forge, bosch sport , 710N)

Default they(diverter valves) open a loop to the intake side of the turbos after mass airflow sensor to

to bleed off excess boost from pressure side of turbo when shifting, letting off gas after accelerating. works like blow off valves but quieter along with ecu not losing track of that previously metered air and running rich.

Default Thanks, prob is search engine . ..

did not find any reference in allroad or in A6 forums when I specified. Only found in A4/S4 forum - strange, since this thread exists. I got it now, but do not understand the cost Ed paid versus the much more costly quotes I see for Bailey or Forge units. Who makes the 710N and where to buy?
J.
