Default 890$ to replace outer axle boots - is this a right price?

Why is it not covered by ext warranty? (Audi Platinum Ext Warranty)

Seems high. Take it to an independent. "Rubber wear parts" usually not covered by warranty.

If you DIY, it's about $30 per side in parts and might take you 2 hours.

Default I charge $170 labor + the boot pre side so about 200.00 a side. They are screwing you!!!!

lots of extended warranty co's cover the joints not the boots.

Default Crazy Re: 890$ to replace outer axle boots - is this a right price?

Found both my 03 outers leaking grease. Never having done anything similar, I pulled each half axel and replaced boot with new obtained from Carson at Riverside (approx $30 ea). It took a while (newbie) but was not rocket science. It is a dirty job but if you are mechanically inclined, have basic tools etc. and willing to try your own fixes, it ain't hard. There is a lot of help detail if you decide to do it. Search on the forum. An indy will be far less than dealer, (especially yours!!!), so farm it out if you want to avoid the muss. Good luck.

My dealer charged 1.5 hrs labor & $50 for parts, per side ($80/hr labor).

Audi Platinum Ext. warranty doesn't cover it as it's considered a wear & tear item, per the contract.
