Default Adaptive behavior

Is it true that the Audi can learn one's driving behavior and adjust accordingly to promote that driving habit? Does the Audi perform better if I drive it aggressively?

Default Re: Adaptive behavior

THe tiptronic trans has internal settings.. sport, normal, etc. If you are driving hard, it will program to sport and stay there, quicker shifts...holding to a higher RPM, etc.

It won't learn the way home once get off the exit on the highway... too bad..

Mine took about a month of spirited driving to finally unlearn the previous owner and move to sport mode and thank God - it is so much better and appropriate for the way I drive. I wish I could tell you how to force it to select sport, but I can't. Anyone else?

Default Transmission reset...

...Although there's some disagreement about this, supposedly it's possible to reset the transmission to neutral (i.e., to unlearn its learned behavior) by: turn on key but not engine, hole accelerator pedal all the way down (you can feel the "kick-down" switch -- hold it past that) for > 5 seconds.

Also, for some model years (> 02, I think) you can use the VAG-Com tool to set the transmission to sport mode.

All this, and more, has been discussed extensively here and on the A6 board. HPH

Default Sport mode via VAG-COM or dealer

My dealer kindly coded my TCM ('01) to permanent sport mode. I was never able to get the adaptive algorithms to make the switch, that I could notice.

Yep, worked on my wife's old Passat and is well documented on VW forums.

If it's a 2001, just put it to "4" instead of "D". Moves shift points to higher RPMs
