I was really planning on getting the T-reg but got the allroad instead...
The Touareg is new and was having a lot of tranny and electrical problems. The T-reg is a absolute dog compared to the allroad. The allroad out handles the T-reg a tremendous amount. I felt like I was getting a much better vehicle by getting a Allroad. The Allroad also has a much better build quality.

I read somewhere the Touareg V6 takes 12 seconds to go from 0-60!

Can't say I've driven a Tourag (why are they pronounced "Twarags" in the UK and "Tour rags" in the USA?). But I have driven a Cayenne V8....I bought an AR 4.2..handled better, was quicker too..actually had a really cute girl say she liked my AR..never had that with my Porsche 911 C4S! Anyway, to your question..I wouldn't hesitate to get the Audi..more room I think, now if you can afford the V10 Turbo Diesel, that's another story.

Better build quality?
That's scary... My allroad takes second place to my former '83 Passat GLX as spending the most time in the shop. I still love it, but I'm not sure I want to own it after warranty...
A dog compared with which model? I have yet to see an allroad (stock) do 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, which the V10 TDI Touareg will do.
And no one has brought up towing??
There are reasons for choosing the Touareg over the allroad, which some have overcome with additional vehicle choices.
