Default Allroad Brake Upgrade Throwdown

I've searched the Forum - haven't seen a systematic download on the most expensive upgrade - BRAKES.

IF YOU'VE UPGRADED (anything from switching to Pagid pads to 4 corner Brembos), Please Post reply with the following:

1. WHAT you did
2. WHY (Towing, Track days, Appearance, Gen'l Performance)
3. HOW MUCH it cost
4. HOW LONG you've run
5. CONCLUSIONS, (worth dough, would/wouldn't recommend, etc.)

THANKS. It's more money than all the other upgrades (at least ones I'm doing) combined, and I'd love to get consolidated feedback.

Default Stock brakes are fine for the street, but not for the track and

who would take an allroad to the track anyway?

Default Actually, the stock rotors...

...tend to wear unevenly. I'm almost through my second set at ~60K miles. A brake upgrade could prevent this -- but it should be something that Audi should offer as standard. My first replacement was covered by the warranty, but I don't think the second one will be (I have an extended warranty, but this is probably 'normal wear' by their standards). HPH

Default Why would you track an allroad?

#1) You only own one car.
#2) You want to explore the dynamics of that car at the edge of the envelope, and don't want to do it on the street.
#3) You realize tracking isn't racing, just having fun.
#4) Because nothing's MORE fun than passing a Liegenfelter 'Vette or an M3 in a station wagon.

I typically rent an SRF for track days, but when the weather's foul, I've tracked my S4 Avant, and would track an 2.7T manual allroad (w/ some mods) for the reasons above. If that's OK.

Default same reasons for...

...jet powered Semis and Valium for pets.

I guess folks think any idea is a good idea.

Default If you only owned one car, let's hope it's not a...

Jet Powered Semi.

(And for the record, letting your dog on Valium drive is NEVER a good idea.)

Default (SARCASM) if the Vette and the M3 are being passed by an allroad...

... then it's nothing that ought to be chalked up to bragging rights.

Sort of like a doofus showing his true nature by telling an allroad-kill-Supra story.

(eg, "Yeah - he might have been making a sizzling skillet of Fajitas or something... but I shut him down by 2-3 carlengths before I backed down... I pulled HARD on him and my car felt like it had PLENTY more.... I didn't want to cook my turbos, and there probably were cops around or something, so I backed off and he slingshotted past me" blah blah blah)

Default Zimmermans, drilled and slotted, PBR ceramic pads

I did this about a month ago, love it so far, there is a huge write up I did in the forum here, not sure how far back it is, but here is a link to our local web site with my write up. Total cost was under $300 for everything, fronts only, as the rears are fine right now, but in a year I will do them as well...same cost for rears, about $300 for Zimmermans and PBR's

http ://www.rmcb5.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=6 61&sid=34ade04aee6607c13aebefc91a0761fc</a
