Default Re: Audi Avantissimo

HOw old is that picture?

Avantissmo vs pikes peak? Issmo suppose to be super v8 performance, I would suspect pricing would be Pikes Peak range.

I think the all road in the A6 is basically toast. Lets face it, its black paint, adjustable suspension, and a few bits of leather. oh, and some aluminum bits on the outside. ITs largely a marketing effect to bring in SUV lookers.

I love my allroad, and got mine at a great price, otherwise would have gone sedan or Avant. No regrets, but I would not have paid a premium for it.

I would of gone for an A6 Avant if it wasn't for the 3.0-only option.

Avantissimo is supposedly A8-based and promises to be as much, if not more than an A8. Supposed to the ultimate wagon. I always thought it looked great, but I not sure I'd drop 80 large on it.

Default It's been on again off again...

but the latest I've read in the Euro rags is that it's on again, perhaps to compete against Merc's soon-to-be-released GST wagon.

Unfortunately, it'll probably bear little resemblance to the Avantissimo concept and instead look like an A8 Avant (which isn't a bad thing at all -- it's just that the Avantissimo was so pretty!).

Default Saw it in the flesh last November .. It's a great car

Much larger then a allroad / A6. Great passenger space as well as luggage with a neat sliding draw at the rear under the load space. It's in the Audi pavillion at Autostadt, just after you sit through a great A/V presentation of the LeMans win with an R8 in the middle of the room.

Possibly not quite as cool as the Murcielago that revs up on the wall and then spins outside ....

A fun place to visit if you ever get the chance !
