Wawona tunnel parking lot... I once stared at that for 20 hours as I shivered in rain on el Cap.

Did you wait it out, or bail off?

Default Summitted the next day - first Cap wall, the Nose. Christ - that was 9 years ago...

...and I still have some very vivid memories.

I've since spent almost a month combined on that monolith, and half a year in the valley itself.

A couple of years ago we had a great hike from Tuolumne to Vogelsang. We did the hike in early July just as the mosquitoes hatched. Above 10K it was brutal, and we didn't bring any insect repellent.

We hiked down the next morning to 9.5K feet, found a nice waterfall and swimming hole. At night we got a visit from a bear. He was more scared of us than we of him. The kids got a kick out of that.

Default yes, Yosemite in September

Best time to go, all of the kids are gone, everything is still open, and just a few tourists, mainly for Europe.

This year we did our annual Half-Dome hike, here is my wife on Eagle's Peak, looking over the valley:

And here I am up on the top of Yosemite falls:

And here is the trusty Allroad down in the parking lot (second row, second from top), This shot is from the top of Yosemite Falls:
